Friday Update

A big thanks to everyone who was involved in May Intensive (MI). It was wonderful to see the students participating in a myriad of activities in and around the school and community. The HHS staff worked hard to provide meaningful experiences to our students. The students I spoke with all had a great time and learned something new.

HHS is now heading into the final weeks of the 20-21 school year. Please remind your student to stay focused on their studies and to reach out to their respective teachers or counselor if they have any questions. All of the end of year dates have been posted in Schoology.

  • May 31 - NO SCHOOL
  • June 2 - In-person Day for in-person HHS students (remote for remote students) - Students will follow a Tuesday schedule
  • June 7 - Last day of classes for seniors. Teachers of seniors will expect attendance unless otherwise stated by course on this day
Last day for seniors to pay outstanding fees and return all HHS belongings.
  • June 14 - Last day of school for underclassmen

Have a great weekend!

Notes from the Health Office:

It is that time of year…the ticks are out in full force, just when we all want to be enjoying the great outdoors.

Please remind your children to wear bug repellent when engaging in outdoor activities, and to do a complete “tick check” throughout the day.

Please see the link below to get information about proper tick removal technique, as well as signs and symptoms of Lyme Disease. Contact your PCP if you find a tick that is engorged and deeply embedded in the skin.

Youth-in-Action (YIA)

We have been enjoying being able to get out and garden and do trail work with local organizations. Please sign up HERE if you want to help with Willing Hands or our on-going cooking for the Upper Valley Haven

Thanks to awesome volunteers (and donors) YIA has been able to provide weekly meals to organizations in need throughout the pandemic.  We have seen an increase in our costs. We are having a bake sale Thursday, May 27 to help offset these necessary expenses. Students and families are invited to sign up HERE  to bake and bring individually wrapped items for the sale..

If you prefer to sponsor a dinner (suggested contribution $50 - $75), email Beth to find out more).

A note from RMS:

At the Frances C. Richmond middle school, we consider our library the heart of our school. It is a welcoming space, full of a myriad of authentic voices that allow our students to find books that speak to them. In an effort to upgrade the space RMS recently secured a grant to re-imagine the space to make it even more welcoming. At the current time we have raised over $75,000 through the Bryne foundation and multiple community donations. We are very close to our final goal of slightly over $80,000 to complete the entire renovation in one year. Please consider giving some money to our effort to build and enhance our heart.

To see a plan for the new library click here.

Please send a check, payable to the Dresden School district to 63 Lyme rd, Hanover, NH 03755.

We at RMS thank you for helping our community.

Please be safe, stay well, and take care of each other.

Internship opportunity Enfield Shaker Museum

Hi! If you have a student who is interested in an internship- We have one available. It is part-time (appr. 10 hours/week), flexible hours and includes a stipend. The work and learning experience is quite diverse. They will be learning our plantsmap software, working in the beds, helping with marketing, and meeting our wonderful CSA participants. All in all, they should get a great idea of the multimodal work environment to be found in a small museum and the benefits that come from such a diversity of tasks.

Qualifications: Garden interns should have an interest in gardening practices, and a commitment to Sustainable Agriculture. A love of herbs and an interest in their historical past, as well as their continuously evolving future, is a huge plus! Must possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team; the physical ability to work actively for extended periods, a willingness to work in various types of weather, and a willingness to learn the basics of our software.

Please submit a letter of interest, resume, and references to Diana Kimball-Anderson.
