Dear HHS Community,
The athletic playoff season is upon us! Like many in our community, I am an avid sports fan and enjoy cheering on our teams. I am also very aware that normal fan behavior at professional sporting events as well as many college or high school events includes berating the opposing team and/or jeering the officials.
I hope our student fans will attend in large numbers and cheer wildly for our teams. And, I want to be perfectly clear - I expect that our students will in no way negatively target the opposing team or officials. Further, we should not be calling out opposing players even in ways that, taken at face value, are positive. Yelling “...nice hair #114” is not appropriate. In my opinion, it’s important that we always treat others with respect, even when we are competing against them and even if we are met with disrespect (I’m not suggesting this will be the case). I look forward to being there with you to cheer on our teams.
Have a great weekend!
