Happy second semester. The students and staff at HHS are off and running. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and patience in allowing for a smooth transition. There is still a great deal of work that needs to be completed before June and discussions are starting to take place regarding the end of year culminating events. At this time, there are no concrete plans and various groups are meeting and discussing options. Stay tuned as the semester progresses.
The COVID pandemic has forced teachers to change a number of curricular processes that have been traditionally acceptable in the school environment. For many, on-line learning is a new concept, labs need to be reconstructed, classroom norms are totally different just to name a few. All of this requires a great deal of time for staff and I believe they should all be commended for delivering an outstanding program to all students. In order to effectively plan HHS will be having five early dismissal days during the second semester. All of these days will take place on a Wednesday and we will be sharing more details as we get closer to them. The early release days will be February 24, March 17, March 31, April 21, and May 26, 2021.
Lastly, I would like to recognize our HHS school counselors, February 1-5 is National School Counseling Week. This year’s theme is “School Counselors: All in for Students” and this is certainly true for our counselors. They are an integral part of a student’s success helping them form healthy goals, mindsets, and behaviors while guiding them through their high school experience and helping them with their post secondary plans. A big THANK YOU to our counselors!
Have a great weekend, be well and stay warm!
