This week we were very fortunate to have students enter Hanover High School and attend grade level orientations. In the orientation students were introduced to their advisories, received their technology and textbooks, had their pictures taken, walked through their schedules and met their teachers. The students looked excited and were eager to talk with their classmates. Over the course of the week, I spoke with many students and look forward to continued conversation as the school year progresses.
With all of the excitement for the in-person program, students still need to be reminded to adhere to the physical distancing protocols; to maintain the 3’ minimum and when possible 6’. As a staff we will continue to monitor student behaviors throughout the day and redirect or remind them as necessary. It’s important to establish these safety protocols early and condition ourselves for a successful school year.
On Tuesday September 8th all students will be required to be in their first period class at 8:00am (remote and in-person). For the in-person students we ask that you be patient as you enter the building and proceed through the temperature check/attestation stations located at the front entrance, gym entrance, and cafe entrance. Staff will be there to help guide you through the process. Once in the building please proceed to your first period class.
Tuesday will be an abbreviated 7 period day, where students will visit every class. Wednesday will be a remote day for all students and teachers will share their expectations on Tuesday in class. On Thursday, students will begin the block schedule with periods 1, 3, 5, and 7. A copy of the schedules are posted in the weekly announcements.
I believe we are off to a good start and look forward to having a great school year.
