English Department

Through the use of in- and out-of-class reading, listening, viewing, thinking, writing, and discussing, our students develop their abilities to read, write, and speak. Students learn to think critically about a variety of genres and forms of literary works and to substantiate their opinions with supporting materials. Through analysis and synthesis, students learn to see patterns in works throughout literary history. Our department values a balance between skills development and depth of scholarship in the course content.
